ABOUT CBD
WHAT IS CBD?
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a phytocannabinoid commonly found in high concentrations certain strains of hemp. It is one of at least 113 cannabinoids discovered in the cannabis plant and is non-intoxicating in its effects. |
WHAT ARE CANNABINOIDS?
Cannabinoids are a group of chemical compounds that are most commonly found in–but not exclusive to—cannabis. In addition to being produced endogenously by the human endocannabinoid system, cannabinoids have also been found in other botanical sources, including hops and varieties of Echinacea. At least 113 cannabinoids have been isolated from cannabis and characterized, with two of the most notable ones being cannabidiol (CBD) tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). |
IS CBD LEGAL?
Hemp products that contain CBD are currently and successfully brought to market in all 50 states and over 40 countries by many businesses. We encourage users to always check with your local government, police department, or customs office for the most up to date information regarding the legality of CBD in your area before purchase. This answer should not be considered legal advice, so we strongly recommend that you check with your own local administration to ensure that you are happy with the level of legality of consuming these products before you buy them. |
IS CBD PHSYCHOACTIVE?
While this may be the case for marijuana, it must be noted that CBD is non-intoxicating in its effects. It does not produce feelings of euphoria, stupor, or loss of control; effects commonly associated with THC ingestion. Research suggests that this is due to the fact that CBD does not bind to the CB1 receptor in the same way that THC does. In fact, CBD has been shown in some studies to modulate or reduce the intoxicating effects of THC. |
WILL I TEST POSITIVE ON A DRUG TEST WHILE USING YOUR PRODUCTS?
Although our products comply with the federally mandated THC limit of less than 0.3% THC by dry weight, this does mean a positive test is possible. Drug tests are not uniform and the THC threshold that would yield a positive result is stricter in some tests than others. AlaTerps holds no liability for any positive results on a drug test. We highly recommend not using CBD products if this is a concern to you.
HOW MUCH CBD SHOULD I TAKE?
Due to the wide range of uses for CBD, appropriate serving sizes can vary widely. Your serving size will be dependent upon your body weight, metabolism, individual body chemistry, and other metabolic factors. We cannot make specific recommendations regarding serving sizes. We recommend starting with a small amount of CBD, and gradually increasing the serving until the desired effects are achieved. |
WHAT FORM OF CBD SHOULD I TAKE?
Research is showing us that using a topical form of CBD along with one that you ingest is the most beneficial way to use CBD. The difference in each form is in the way the body absorbs CBD. Tinctures placed under the tongue only take a few minutes to begin working while if you swallow the tincture it will go through the liver and this takes time. Topicals permeate the skin but don’t usually get into the blood stream. |
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FULL-SPECTRUM AND ISOLATE-BASED CBD?
Our products are made by a whole plant extraction with food grade alcohol. We carefully control our process to maintain and preserve the full suite of naturally occurring phytocannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes in the hemp plant. This suite of compounds has potential synergistic benefits which are currently being researched. Products made with Broad Spectrum and Isolated CBD do not retain all these natural compounds and therefore may not have the same effects or benefits. Our products are standardized to specific CBD potencies and due to the natural variation of plant extracts, the levels of peripheral cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids may fluctuate from batch to batch. We use rigorous testing to make sure this variation from batch to batch is as minimal as possible. We only use sustainably grown hemp to make our products and we ensure that THC concentration remains under the federally mandated 0.3% requirement.
HOW SHOULD I STORE CBD OIL PRODUCTS?
While our products do not require refrigeration, we recommend storing your CBD oil products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, such as you would store honey. Make sure to shake teas and tinctures well before each use. Ensure the cap is closed air tight after each use. Refrigeration is not necessary but may prolong shelf life. The Blessing balms will melt if left in heat (and may leak). So be very cautious is you carry it with you in a purse or leave in a warm car. If this happens place whole container in the refrigerator and the balm will quickly return to its original consistency. |
WHERE DO YOU SOURCE YOUR PRODUCTS?
We source from the highest quality growers and farmers available. Quality is our first priority. We have searched high and low to find the best ingredients possible to use creating our products. Everything we use has been grown without pesticides or fertilizers and do not contain any GMOs. And we use organic when possible. We also work with good people. We’ve built a network of carefully selected companies and farmers that we trust. You will be able to tell the difference when you open our products. The teas are full of flowers and herbs and smell wonderful - we didn’t want to hide them in tea bags, although I know it can be a bit inconvenient to bag or strain the tea leaves yourself, But that’s part of the ritual. We want you to care for yourself. Part of that is slowing down and enjoying a cup of tea. Taking the time to apply Blessing Balm to your skin. These things take time and are calming to the mind. |
